The students had a blast last Friday, with our Valentine's Day Celebration. The students spent the morning passing out valentines to one another. We also read stories about Valentine's Day and they graphed candy hearts in Madame Tyson's class. In the afternoon, the students enjoyed goodies provided by many of the parents. It was a great day had by all!

In connection to our new unit in writing, the students and I enjoyed making s'mores this week. We discussed earlier what the purpose of "How To" books are and how they are written in a way that will teach someone how to do something or make something. As a beginning activity to this unit, we made s'mores and then wrote the steps of how to make a s'more down as a class. Students made their own s'mores and then completed their own How To Make A S'more book and art craft. We also tied in our inquiries about the sun and talked about how the heat from the sun could also be used to melt the chocolate when making a s'more. The students writing and art work will be displayed at the First Grade Learning Celebration. Please enjoy the pictures below. We celebrated the 101st day of school on Tuesday, February 3rd. The students wrote about what they would do if they were 101 years old. We also took their pictures with the Aging App and it transformed them into what they would look like if they were older. The students had a great time looking at each others pictures and had some laughs too! The students also worked hard writing 101 word and enjoyed a snack telling them that they were 101 Days Smarter! Enjoy the pictures below! |
AuthorMy name is Erin Webb and I am going into my fourteenth year teaching. I taught kindergarten in Summerville, SC for one year before moving to Rock Hill after getting married. Since being in Rock Hill, I have been teaching first grade at Rosewood Elementary International School. This will be my sixth year teaching using the Dual Language Model. I will be team teaching with Monsieur Joseph McFadden. I am very excited about what the coming year has to offer! Archives
