The students had a great time today when we visited Ameile's Bakery. While there, they enjoyed an authentic French orange drink and got to taste a traditional French pastry, eclairs. The students also got to practice a little of their French when speaking to the owner Madame Katherine. Finally, they got to walk around the bakery and see some authentic French artwork and designs up close. Several of the students even signed the guest book, thanking Ameile's for letting them come!

The students continued working on opinion writing this week. The students wrote their opinion about which type of Oreo cookie they liked best and had to give three reasons why. The students got to choose between Mint Oreos and Lemon Oreos. I guided students through 3 steps in writing their opinions: 1) After tasting the Oreos students made a list of adjectives that described them 2) Students chose three adjectives from their list to use as their reasons for liking that Oreo. They had to use those three adjectives in a sentence describing the reason 3) They wrote a beginning sentence for their opinion piece and completed the piece by adding the sentences with their reasons/adjectives. Below are pictures of the students taste testing the Oreos and Videos of the students stating which ones they liked best.
The students have been working really hard this year on their French. Not only are they getting better at understanding and comprehending when Madame Tyson is instructing them, they are also learning how to read and write in French. This past week, they wrote their names, how old they were, where they lived and even wrote a sentence describing their house in French. Check out their French writings below! We are very proud of them :) |
