I had the opportunity to visit Salt Lake City this summer for Dual Language Immersion Training. I learned so much during this trip and it only prepared me more for this upcoming school year. While on the trip I was pleased to learn some surprising facts about the benefits of a dual language immersion program. Dual language immersion programs foster a deeper environment of cross-cultural understanding. These programs also have cognitive benefits as well: better performance on executive functioning tasks and maintaining better cognitive function with age. Students in these programs also have stronger problem solving skills, vocabularies and word analysis skills. Needless to say it was a great and eye opening trip and I can't wait for this school year to begin!

Since being in Rock Hill, I have been teaching first grade at Rosewood Elementary International School. This will be my sixth year teaching using the Dual Language Model. I will be team teaching with Monsieur Joseph McFadden. I am very excited about what the coming year has to offer! Archives
